Job Purpose: The road worker is responsible for the construction, repair, and maintenance of roads, highways, and other transportation infrastructure to ensure safe and efficient travel for the public.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain construction equipment such as rollers, pavers, and jackhammers.
Prepare work sites by removing debris, setting up traffic control, and marking areas for repair.
Lay asphalt, concrete, and other materials to build or repair road surfaces.
Install and repair road signs, guardrails, and other safety features.
Follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment at all times.
Work as part of a team to complete projects on schedule.
Perform routine inspections and report any hazards or issues to supervisors.
Clean and maintain tools and equipment after use.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Basic knowledge of construction tools and machinery.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in road construction or a related field.
Certification in operating heavy machinery (e.g., forklift, excavator).
Knowledge of road safety regulations and traffic control procedures.
